AFC Bournemouth turned on the style to open their Premier League campaign with a deserved 2-0 victory over Aston Villa at Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

Goals from Jefferson Lerma and Kieffer Moore put the finishing touches to an outstanding all-round display from Scott Parker’s well-drilled team.

The Cherries, who lined up with a three-man central defence, defended superbly throughout and blunted Villa’s array of attacking options.

Lerma gave them a solid platform to build on when he opened the scoring with just one minute and 52 seconds on the clock.

The Colombia international netted from close range after Lloyd Kelly had headed a corner from Marcus Tavernier back into the danger zone.

Kelly then turned provider for Moore to maintain his stunning start to his Cherries career, the frontman adding his fifth goal for the club.

Moore, who bagged four goals during the Championship run-in, powered a header past Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez after Kelly had found him with a precision cross.
