Lowe signs for the Cherries

AFC Bournemouth are delighted to announce the signing of exciting frontman Jamal Lowe.

The 27-year-old has penned a three-year deal and joins the Cherries for an undisclosed fee from Championship rivals Swansea City.

He becomes the club’s sixth addition of the transfer window following Emi Marcondes, Gary Cahill, Orjan Nyland and loan recruits Leif Davis and Morgan Rogers.

Lowe has quickly climbed through the leagues since being unearthed by Portsmouth while plying his trade with Hampton & Richmond Borough in the National League South in 2016.

He played his part as Pompey won League Two in 2016/17 and scored at Wembley as they lifted the EFL Trophy the following season.

An Isthmian League winner with Hampton & Richmond in 2015/16, Lowe’s rise to the Championship came when he signed for Wigan Athletic in August 2019.

Lowe hit 14 goals as Swansea qualified for the Championship play-offs last season, the Welsh outfit eventually losing in the final to Brentford.

A PE teacher during his days in non-league, Lowe has missed just five of 189 league games since the start of 2017/18 and has also been capped by Jamaica.

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told afcb.co.uk: “Jamal has continued to make excellent progress since joining Portsmouth five years ago.

“He has gained valuable experience as he has moved through the leagues, culminating in helping Swansea reach the Championship play-offs last season.

“At 27, we believe his best days are ahead of him and are delighted to have brought him to AFC Bournemouth.

“He will bolster our attacking options and I know Scott and his team are really looking forward to working with him.”
