Loan watch: Cargill makes Cod Army debut

Baily Cargill was one of a number of Cherries players getting appearance time away from Vitality Stadium over the weekend.

Cargill came off the bench to make his debut for Fleetwood Town away at Bristol Rovers, but was unable to turn things around at the Memorial Stadium. The 22-year-old came on in the 75th minute with the side trailing 2-1, though Rovers substitute Ellis Harrison put the game to bed with his side’s third four minutes later.

Also in League One, Ryan Allsop helped Blackpool to a 2-1 home win over bottom-of-the-table Oldham Athletic, a result that moves the Tangerines up to eighth in the table.

Max Gradel’s Toulouse came from behind to win 3-2 at home to Rennes in Ligue 1, the on-loan Cherries forward playing 89 minutes at Stadium Municipal.

In League Two, Ben Whitfield played 90 minutes against Crewe at Vale Park, though the hosts lost 1-0 after battling for nearly an hour a man down after a sending off for Michael Tonge.

Elsewhere, Yeovil Town won 2-0 at home to Coventry City, though Sam Surridge remained on the bench through the match.

Sam Matthews played the full game for National League side Eastleigh on Monday, the Spitfires drawing 0-0 with Aldershot.

There was a derby day win for Weymouth as they beat ten-man Dorchester Town 3-0, with two Cherries featuring. Mark Travers – the goalkeeper who scored on his debut last week – continued his great start to life with the Terras, keeping a clean sheet. While under-18s player Antonio Diaz came off the bench after 78 minutes.

There was also a Bournemouth connection with the goal scorers in the game, with former Cherries players bagging all three of them – Jake McCarthy with a brace and Brandon Goodship scoring the other.
