Dan Gosling is the only Cherries man who played in the remarkable 8-0 win at St. Andrew's in 2014, and now he's hungry for more success there on Saturday.

Steve Cook's suspension means Gosling - who was a 56th minute substitute in the club-record away day - is the only survivor from that stunning win over Birmingham City in contention to play nearly six years later.

Adam Smith and Junior Stanislas were unused subs for that match - and Gosling has already been on target twice at the home of the Blues this season, albeit in a match against the Sky Blues of Coventry at their temporary residence.

"That was probably one of our best performances to date, everything sort of went right that day," said Gosling in conversation with afcb.co.uk. "This time we know it's going to be a new game against new opposition.

"Birmingham and Coventry are two completely different sides, but one thing we know is that Birmingham are going to be up for it, so we'll need to fight hard as well."

The Cherries have a remarkable record at St. Andrew's, never beaten on the ground and picking up an eighth win from 11 when playing the Sky Blues there last month.

"That's a good omen for us," said the midfielder of the club's winning streak at the stadium. "But it's going to be a difficult afternoon and one that we have to be ready for.

"It's been a relentless schedule to date, playing Saturday then Tuesday, two home games then two away games."

"When that away week comes along it's a tough week, travelling a lot with long journeys and late nights and not doing too much training to be honest.

"It's more about getting back, doing recovery, travelling and then going again.

"That's what we've had this week, but it's the same for all the teams, and off the back of a bad result and a bad performance like against Sheffield Wednesday it's just a few short days and you're playing again - but that's a good thing."

The October win over Coventry also brought to a close a rapid-fire run of games ahead of the last international break, with a similar situation this Saturday before the majority of Jason Tindall's squad get to train, rest and take stock with a blank weekend to come.

"We have to win, no doubt about that," he said. "We have two weeks to the next game after this weekend and you don't want to be having two weeks of training off the back of a defeat or a draw.

"We can't afford to keep drawing games when really we should be putting teams to bed and we'll go to St. Andrew's going all out and looking to get all three points."
