AFC Bournemouth are delighted to announce the signing of Netherlands international Justin Kluivert from Serie A outfit AS Roma.

The exciting frontman has penned a long-term contract at Vitality Stadium and joins the Cherries for an undisclosed fee.

Kluivert will significantly bolster the club’s attacking options under newly-appointed Cherries head coach Andoni Iraola.

The 24-year-old has played in the top divisions in Netherlands, Italy, Germany, France and Spain and has Champions League and Europa League experience.

Kluivert, Roma’s youngest player to score in the Champions League, netted eight goals and supplied two assists in 29 appearances during a loan spell with Valencia in La Liga last season.

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said: “We are delighted to have made Justin our first signing ahead of the new season.

“He was coveted by a number of clubs across Europe and his arrival is a sign of his ambition, which is matched by ours.

“Justin is an exciting and versatile attacking player who has an eye for goal. He is pacey, direct and boasts a high level of technical ability.

“Although he only recently turned 24, Justin has a wealth of experience and has played domestically at the highest level in five different countries.

“He has also played in the Champions League and Europa League as well as being capped by his country at senior level.

“We are all very much looking forward to working with Justin, a player we believe will be a great addition to our squad and someone our supporters will enjoy watching.”

Born in Amsterdam, Kluivert graduated from the Ajax youth ranks and registered 12 goals and nine assists in 44 games in Eredivisie before moving to Roma, helping them secure top-six finishes in Serie A in his first two seasons.

During his time with Roma, Kluivert also had loan spells with RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga and Nice in the top flight in France.

He will join his new teammates for the start of pre-season early next month before the squad heads to Marbella for a warm-weather training camp.

The Cherries face Hibs and Maccabi Tel Aviv in friendlies on the Costa del Sol before hosting Atalanta and FC Lorient at Vitality Stadium.
