Joshua King has spoken of his delight following this evening’s 1-0 Carabao Cup win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Norwegian came off the bench to score the only goal of the game in extra-time, after some excellent link-up play with Marc Pugh saw him net from close-range.

Following the match, the striker spoke to afcbTV about the result and what it means to be in the hat for the next round.

“It’s good to get off the mark,” he said.

“It’s my first goal of the season and one that you’re always looking to get. The fact that it was one that really helped the team was pleasing.

“It was a one-two with Marc Pugh and a good team goal and, now that I’m off the mark, I feel really good.

“Jermain Defoe got his first one last week and I got mine today so it’s good that we have strikers that can score, amongst other players. We have a strong squad.

“I feel fresh. Obviously we had a game on Friday so we’ve had a couple of days rest. But it was nice to come off the bench fresh and make an impact.”

King also spoke of the back-to-back wins picked up for the Cherries and how important it is to keep the run going.

“We started the season badly by our standards but where know where we need to be,” continued the 25-year-old.

“Even though we won on Friday, we know we can do better.

“We’ve got a tough game on Saturday against Everton and we have to be up for it. We showed against Manchester City how good we can be so we just need to focus and work hard.”
