Joshua King says he proud to be representing AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League.

After signing for the club in the summer of 2015 following the Cherries’ promotion to the Premier League, King is on course to reach 100 appearances in all competitions for the club this weekend.

And the Norwegian international believes the best is yet to come, from both himself and the rest of his club teammates.

“It makes me very proud to be playing for AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League,” King explained “I’ve always believed in myself and sometimes you just need that opportunity.

“The manager here has given me that and I try to work hard every day to repay the faith he has shown in me.

“After leaving Manchester United I spent two-and-a-half seasons in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers. I had a few injuries, spent a bit of time on the bench and found myself in and out of the side.

“To have been there and to now be playing in the Premier League - hopefully I’m proving that I’m good enough to be playing at this level.

“As a team, we’ve proved that we’re no pushovers. We’re in a position to continue to improve and we believe the only thing that can stop us from progressing is ourselves. I know this club can reach higher levels.”

King ended the 2016/17 campaign as the club’s top scorer, netting 16 goals as the Cherries registered a record high Premier League finish.

And he reflected on that period as a personal high and hopes to replicate his form from that period in the final games of the current campaign.

King continued: “The second half of last season went very well, both for myself and the team.

“For some reason I feel like I’ve sprung into life in February and March time in recent years. Hopefully I can add to my tally between now and the end of this season.

“Last season I only missed two games through injury. This season has been a bit more on and off, but I’ve learned so much since I came to this club.”

The only thing that can stop us from progressing is ourselves.
