Internationals: Kilkenny a 'class above' in win

Gavin Kilkenny started for the Republic of Ireland under-21s away in Bosnia and Herzegovina and was a 'class above' with his performance.

The Cherries midfielder, a breakout performer for Scott Parker so far in 2021/22, was equally impressive in Zenica as his Ireland side claimed an impressive 2-0 win.

Tyreik Wright, currently on loan at Salford City from Aston Villa, had grabbed the first goal of the away match from the penalty spot - Kilkenny involved as he took the free-kick that ended in the spot-kick being awarded.

In the European Under-21 Championship qualifier Kilkenny shone throughout, taking the corner that a pass later saw the ball in the back of the net thanks to Conor Coventry's controlled finish.

The midfielder is in action for his country again on Tuesday when the under-21s continue their qualifying campaign in Dudelange with an away match against Luxembourg.
