Internationals: Brooks plays for Wales, Zabaryni nets first goal

David Brooks played his first international in 720 days as he came off the bench for Wales against Armenia.

Brooks hadn’t featured since Wales’ elimination from Euro 2020 but was brought on to a standing ovation with 19 minutes to go.

Fellow Cherries Chris Mepham and Kieffer Moore both started at Cardiff City Stadium in the 4-2 home defeat.

Rob Page’s men still have five games left to revive their hopes of qualifying for Euro 2024, with a chance to put things right away to Turkey on Monday.

Elsewhere, Cherries defender Illia Zabarnyi scored his first international goal for Ukraine in a dramatic Euro 2024 qualifer.

Zabarnyi’s side found themselves 2-0 down at half-time, but the defender reduced the deficit just after the hour mark to provide the foundation to a stunning comeback.

Further strikes from Yukym Konoplya and Viktor Tsygankov secured the win for the Ukrainians with Zabarnyi putting in another impressive display.
