It was a night to remember for Mark Travers, who made his first ever senior appearance for the Republic of Ireland.
The 20-year-old was handed his senior debut by Mick McCarthy and was on the winning side against Bulgaria, with a rotated Irish team winning 3-1 in a friendly.
The stopper, who saved three consecutive penalties in the Carabao Cup against Forest Green Rovers, faced a penalty at the Aviva Stadium and got extremely close to keeping it out, guessing the right way but unfortunately wasn’t able to save it.
So there was no clean sheet but a memorable night for Travers in his home country.
Gavin Kilkenny was also in action in the Republic of Ireland setup, with the under-21s producing a fine performance in a 3-1 win away to Sweden.
Kilkenny came on in the second-half and played on the right-side of midfield as two late goals secured the victory.
The result means that Stephen Kenny's side are top of their Euro 2021 qualifying group having taken a maximum nine points from three games.
Away from Europe, after playing against Brazil last week Jefferson Lerma played 90 minutes against Venezuela as Colombia drew 0-0.
Lerma was booked in the friendly draw which took place at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
Elsewhere, Alex Dobre came off the bench as Romania under-21s were beaten 2-1 by Denmark under-21s and Callum Wilson was an unused sub for England in their 5-3 win over Kosovo.
