AFC Bournemouth head coach Gary O’Neil has revealed that Marcus Tavernier will be missing from the squad for this weekend’s game with Manchester City.
Tavernier was substituted against Wolves after he scored the crucial winning goal at Molineux.
The midfielder had netted three goals in his past four Premier League games and will undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury.
“Marcus Tavernier will be missing for the weekend,” O’Neil confirmed.
“He was coming off anyway against Wolves before he got injured, but he did feel pain in his other hamstring.
“He’s had some tests done this week and it’s a blow, but there are a few more to come next week. We’re hopeful that it’s not too serious.”
Elsewhere, David Brooks is close to making a recovery, but O’Neil was quick to downplay his involvement in the matchday squad immediately.
He continued: “David won’t be involved at the weekend.
“He’s been in modified training this week, he isn’t quite at full throttle yet but is getting closer.
“We need to bring him back progressively.
“Elsewhere Lloyd Kelly, Illia Zabarnyi and Lewis Cook will still be missing from the matchday squad.”
