Injury News: Squad in good place ahead of Saturday

Gary O'Neil admitted that the squad are in a good place ahead of the weekend's game against Brentford.

Thomas Frank's side travel to Vitality Stadium for a 3pm kick-off in what will be the Cherries' first game back since the international break.

The interim head coach addressed the media in his pre-match press conference and provided updates on those currently out injured.

"The boys that are on the way back are doing really well. Ben Pearson and Joe Rothwell are getting closer and almost there.

"Ryan Fredericks is making big improvements and I'm delighted with where the group are.

"Everyone came back from their internationals well so, as I say, I'm pleased with that. I'm excited for the game, I'm excited to see what boys can do on Saturday.

"It's the first game at home for a while and I can't wait. The boys are in a good place and I'm looking forward to it."

O'Neil continued by discussing former teammate and current Cherries captain Lloyd Kelly, who hasn't featured since the 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest at the start of September.

"Lloyd Kelly wont be available yet," he said.

"Him missing is a huge blow, but the boys that came in at Newcastle came in with spirit and that was massive for us. We'll be making sure we're solid and resolute again on Saturday.

"Obviously, I would rather Lloyd be fit. He's a great lad. I played with him for short spell at Bristol City and I knew he would be a fantastic player.

"He's a really good guy and he always wants to be in and around it. Obviously, there's that importance of being captain, but everyone does that role in their own way.

"The group need to play their part in making sure we're in the right place. The captain sets that off for you, but the lads drive themselves well here.

"We need to manage ourselves in good moments and I think the mentality and intensity of the group is always good."
