AFC Bournemouth interim head coach Gary O’Neil shared there were no new injury concerns ahead of the visit of Southampton.

Both captain Lloyd Kelly and David Brooks were absentees for the Cherries during the 2-2 draw away to Fulham on Saturday.

With the Saints up next at Vitality Stadium on Wednesday night, O’Neil said on the squad: “We’re good; we’re the same as we were.”

The trip to Craven Cottage saw Joe Rothwell and Junior Stanislas return to the bench after injury absences.

Midfielder Ben Pearson did not feature in the matchday squad but was available for selection, which was a pleasing aspect for the interim head coach.

“It’s brilliant,” he said. “Junior Stanislas, Joe Rothwell and Ben Pearson are back around it, and they all give us certain strengths that we’re definitely going to need.

“Junior brings us some real quality that I’m sure we’ll need in moments and I’m delighted to have a player of his quality back.”

O’Neil added on Rothwell: “He’s a good footballer and a powerful boy. He has really good acceleration and drive to get away from people.

“He’s really nice on the ball and I’m sure he’ll have some really important moments for us this season.”

With an increased selection in the Cherries’ arsenal due to players returning from injury, O’Neil aired his delight at having a greater pool of players to choose from.

He explained: “I don’t really see it as starters and non-starters, I look at all of them as they’re going to be really important.

“I need them all to be ready at all times because you never know what the situation is going to call for.

“It’s really good that we’ve got a few of them back and I have a few decisions to make now when I’m naming the bench and starting XI.

“A few weeks ago, the bench was basically everyone that was fit, so it’s nice to get a few back.”
