Injury news: Lewis Cook closer to return

AFC Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook is in the final stages of his rehabilitation, manager Eddie Howe has revealed.

Cook suffered his knee injury against Huddersfield Town at Vitality Stadium last year, but has made good progress over the summer.

The midfielder hasn't been put back in full training with the squad, but has taken part in smaller sections of training.

Ahead of the clash with Aston Villa at Villa Park, boss Howe also gave fitness updates on his new signings and whether they will in the Premier League at the weekend.

“We’ll have to assess some of our injuries,” he said.

“We’re waiting to see the extent of Arnaut Danjuma’s injury, which was unfortunate.

“Lloyd Kelly won’t be too long hopefully, but both him and Arnaut will miss this game.

“Andrew Surman is fit as is Harry Wilson, and Dan Gosling is still working back from his operation.

“Lewis Cook is out working in America with a specialist and it’s going really well.

“It’s good news and he’s in the last stages before he can return to full training with the team.”
