Injury news: Howe hopeful on Wilson

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe says that striker Callum Wilson has “recovered well” from the hamstring injury that kept him out of last weekend’s game against Liverpool.

Wilson pulled up in training prior to the game and missed his first Premier League fixture of the campaign so far.

The manager wants to err on the side of caution with Wilson’s injury, but is hopeful he will play this weekend – Dan Gosling will miss out after having an operation.

"There’s a few injuries and obviously we have our long term absentees missing," he started.

"Dan Gosling has had an operation, I don’t think it’s too serious to keep him out for too long.

"Callum Wilson has recovered well, so we’re hopeful he’ll be OK. You need your best players fit and available, physically he’s been good as this is the first problem he’s had.

"We’re going to be careful with the problem and wait and see."

The manager also gave the latest on Lewis Cook, who underwent an operation last week after suffering his ACL injury.

"It's very early days for Lewis," he continued.

"His knee is very swollen. When you do have a long-term injury you do feel isolated and lonely, the beauty for him is that he has players around him that have had similar injuries so he has support around him.

"It's important we keep him close to the squad."
