Injury news: Cahill and Moore to miss Forest clash

AFC Bournemouth head coach Scott Parker has confirmed that Gary Cahill will miss out on the Friday night clash with Nottingham Forest.

Cahill will miss the game with a knee injury, while Parker also confirmed that new recruit Kieffer Moore will miss out for at least eight weeks, with the frontman breaking his foot after coming off the bench against Birmingham City.

Scotland international Ryan Christie also picked up an injury in the 3-1 win against the Blues last week, but his prognosis is better than originally first feared according to the head coach.

“Gary Cahill has a little irritation in his knee and will miss the game on Friday,” Parker said.

“We have a few other injuries, it’s such a shame for Kieffer and he’s been desperately unlucky.

“He’s come off the bench for five minutes and landed on his foot and broke his foot, so it’s really unlucky for Kieffer and he’ll be missing for at least eight to ten weeks.

“Ryan Christie is progressing well. He’s seen specialists and the prognosis that we received is better than we originally first thought which we’re pleased with.

“We’ll work over the next ten days to two weeks and see exactly where the injury is, it’s settling down, moving in the right direction and we’re pleased with what we’ve heard back.”

There are several other injuries in the Cherries camp, with Adam Smith returning to training with the group again ahead of the game.

Junior Stanislas and Ethan Laird have also been missing and Parker provided an update on the trio.

“Adam Smith has been training but the game is a little too early for him,” he continued.

“We won’t see Junior Stanislas for a few weeks, but he is progressing and he’s been on the grass at a low level this week.

“Ethan Laird will also miss out on this one as well but we’re looking forward to seeing him out there.”
