Injury News: A ‘good week’ for players returning

Gary O’Neil stated it had been a ‘really good week’ for Cherries players returning from injury in his pre-Leicester press conference.

Leicester City are the visitors to Vitality Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off), with AFC Bournemouth heading into the fixture four unbeaten in the Premier League.

Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes, meanwhile, returned from the international break with a resounding 4-0 victory over rivals Nottingham Forest last time out.

Speaking to local media ahead of the top-flight fixture, O’Neil first provided an update on midfield duo Joe Rothwell and Ben Pearson.

He told the press: “They’ve had a really good week; both of them have trained all week with us.

“It’s been really good to get them back out there, it’s a real positive.”

Further positive updates from the interim head coach followed on Ryan Fredericks and Junior Stanislas.

“They’ve both had good weeks, Ryan Fredericks has been really promising on the grass and done some really good work,” he said.

“Junior is coming along as well, maybe not quite so far along as Ryan, Ben and Joe, but Junior’s made good strides.”

Another recent absentee for the Cherries has been captain Lloyd Kelly, who missed both the trip to Newcastle and Brentford’s visit.

While providing his squad update, O’Neil confirmed that the skipper would again be absent for the visit of Leicester.

“Lloyd won’t be with us again this weekend,” he told the press.

“He’s a week closer than he was last week but this weekend comes too quick for him.”
