Manager Eddie Howe said his immediate thoughts were for the club’s supporters after the Cherries had been handed an away draw in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

The Cherries’ penalty shootout win over Forest Green earned them a trip to League One outfit Burton Albion during week commencing 23rd September.

Howe’s team head to the Pirelli Stadium between Premier League clashes against Southampton and West Ham with details of the date and ticket news to follow in due course.

The tie will evoke fond memories for Cherries supporters with promotion to League One clinched thanks to a 2-0 win against the Brewers in April 2010.

Responded to the draw, Howe said: “My immediate thoughts are just for the fans travelling all that way.

“We’re in the hat and we’re in the round and that’s the most important thing. It’ll be a tough game and another very difficult assignment for us.

“When you go away from home, it adds a different challenge so we’re going to have to be very good.

Burton will make it tough for us but the first thought is for the supporters and their travelling time.”

The Cherries have met Burton twice in the FA Cup, winning 4-1 in the third round in 2013/14 and 8-0 in the first round in 1956/57, the club’s best run in the competition which came to an end at the hands of Manchester United in the quarter-final.
