Howe - This is a key period for us now

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is now looking ahead after his side's defeat to Manchester City.

The Cherries were beaten 4-0 and meant that his side had played Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and City in consecutive matches.

Here's what the boss had to say after the game...

ON THE DEFEAT...

Manchester City are a very difficult team to play against.

We came with a gameplan to make it difficult for them to find spaces in midfield and to stay in the game - then have ago at it later on.

I felt we did that for large periods of the first half, the first goal came from our own mistake and the second was a killer, it was too much in the end.

Games against Manchester City are one offs and you have to balance whether to be brave, if not they'll expose you.

ON THE FIXTURES AHEAD...

What a run of fixtures we've had - but we're through that now.

Playing four top sides consecutively is tough, but we now have to focus on the games we have coming up.

It's a key period for us.

ON THE INJURY SITUATION...

We have seven players, well eight now with Junior limping off, we've got big players missing.

With the tough run and the injuries we had, we couldn't rotate as much as we'd have liked over this period.

I need a full squad to pick from. Junior limped off and he felt his hamstring. It was his decision to withdraw himself and I doubt he'll be fit for West Ham.
