Howe - Positives to take

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe believes that the performance against Leicester City was a positive one.

The Cherries drew 0-0 despite dominating the game, but the boss was upbeat in his post-match press conference.

ON THE PERFORMANCE...

We started really well and we did well to maintain that in the match.

We created a number of clear cut chances and on another day we score a few.

I'm very pleased with the team's performance and our defensive shape. Our first clean sheet of the season is a big moment for us massive for us.

There are positives but we're disappointed not to have won the game.

ON THE FIRST HALF HANDBALL INCIDENT...

I didn't see it at the time, I have sympathy with the referee - it was on the opposite side from me.

But looking at Pughie's reaction, knowing the player as I do it seemed there was something amiss.

When you slow it down it's a clear cut penalty, but that's not the reason we didn't win today. We had to take those chances when they came.

It's not doom and gloom for us, a positive day for us.

ON LEWIS COOK'S DISPLAY...

Lewis is unique to the other midfielders we have.

He was composed and defensively today he was excellent.

He had energy and it was a good day for him, he complimented Andrew Surman and they worked well as a pair together.
