AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was pleased that his side were patient in their 1-0 win over Brighton in the Carabao Cup.

The boss felt his side could've had more goals but was enthusiastic about the performance in his post-match press conference.

ON THE GAME...

It was a strange game as it had a very similar pattern to Friday night.

We dominated the ball but the big difference was the number of chances we had.

I felt we got our fluency and rhythm going, maybe our final ball could've been better and our finishing a bit more clinical, but we got our reward in the end.

ON THE RETURN OF JUNIOR...

Well, I thought he shot that hit the inside of the post was in, he's usually a reliable finisher!

Considering he didn't have a reserve game and it was his first match action for a long time, he did very well.

We were managing his minutes and taking no risks and we're pleased.

ON THE CARABAO CUP...

We always take these games seriously. Last season you saw performances that weren't us, with Preston and Millwall disappointing in the cups.

But I'm pleased with the two performances so far this year, it shows the squad strength which of course we have to prove in the Premier League too, but we're on the right path.

The goal was a real moment of quality and deserved to win the game.
