Howe - It's great to be in the next round

Eddie Howe has spoken to the media after Tuesday night's 2-1 victory over Norwich City at Vitality Stadium.

Junior Stanislas gave the Cherries the lead shortly before half-time, but Norwich responded with an Onel Hernandez equaliser on 70 minutes.

Moments later, Steve Cook made sure of the win with an emphatic strike to send Bournemouth through to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

During his post-match press conference, Howe reflected on the following points.

The performance

It was a tough night for us. Norwich played very well so full credit to them. We were below par and rode our luck which made it a difficult game for us.

We looked disjointed, maybe due to players coming in who haven't had enough games, but we lacked a sharpness and fluency that's usually there. Overall, it was a disappointing performance but we withstood the pressure and found a way to win. It's great to be in the next round.

The individuals

Artur Boruc made some good, important saves. Steve Cook's goal was big for him. Historically, he's scored spectacular goals but this was more of a scrappy effort but it came at a really good time for us.

Junior Stanislas' goal was the one moment in the first half in which we showed our quality. It was an unbelievable goal, as was his one against Blackburn in the last round of the competition.

It looked like Simon Francis just tweaked his groin which is why we brought him off. We're not sure how serious that is yet.

Advancing in the competition

It would be really nice for us to advance in the competition. We've made this step again and now we want to try to go one more and the motivation is huge to get to the semi-finals.
