Howe - It probably was a fair result

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe spoke in his post-match press conference and was encouraged by his side’s display against Southampton.

The boss felt that the was a vast improvement in the team and talked about…

THE RESULT

It probably was fair.

I’m disappointed as we took the lead, you hope you can see the game out but Southampton put us under pressure.

It was a good advert for the Premier League I felt as both teams went to attack, it was end-to-end and both teams tried their best to get three points.

After Wednesday, there was a totally different feel about it, we worked their goalkeeper regularly, something we haven’t done number of times this season.

ON THE ADAM SMITH PENALTY INCIDENT…

I think it was a clear penalty, I really do.

I had a good view, if the defender doesn’t get the ball he’s in danger, I can’t work out how it’s not a penalty. But that’s the game of football, we were hugely disappointed not to get a penalty but even more so lose Adam to suspension.

ON THE CHANGES TO THE TEAM…

We went all out to win, that’s always how I’ve managed.

We have had three games in a week and we were disappointed with Wednesday. I gave other people an opportunity and thought they were great.

I’m one of Ryan Fraser’s biggest fans he has huge ability. For whatever reason he’s had a stuttering start to the season, today was a sign of him returning to form.

A lot of our goals last season, Ryan was behind them, so that’s encouraging, and I can’t speak highly enough of him.
