Boss Eddie Howe revealed Dan Gosling was closing in on a return to his AFC Bournemouth squad.

Midfielder Gosling has yet to feature in 2019/20 having sustained a hip problem during pre-season.

Gosling has rejoined Howe’s squad in training and could be in contention to feature against Manchester United tomorrow (12.30pm).

However, the Cherries manager confirmed neither David Brooks nor Junior Stanislas would be available to face the Red Devils at Vitality Stadium.

Discussing Gosling, Howe said: “Dan is getting closer and we are really pleased to have him back. He is a great energiser.

“It has been great to have his energy and personality in training this week.

“He has an eye for goal and is a big player for us.”

Howe said he had no fresh injury concerns following the Cherries’ 0-0 draw at Watford.
