AFC Bournemouth shared the spoils with Premier League counterparts Manchester United following a pulsating 2-2 draw at Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries were hoping to record their first league double over the 20-time English champions after their memorable 3-0 win at Old Trafford in December.

And Andoni Iraola’s team twice took the lead against the Red Devils, only to be pegged back by a double from United skipper Bruno Fernandes.

Dominic Solanke drew first blood for the Cherries after 16 minutes, the striker netting an historic 17th goal in the Premier League this season.

His well-executed effort saw him become the club’s highest goalscorer in a single season in the Premier League, passing the previous best, set by Joshua King in 2016/17.

Fernandes levelled somewhat against the run of play when Alejandro Garnacho’s cutback had eventually fallen for him in the 31st minute.

But the Cherries deservedly reached the break leading 2-1 thanks to Justin Kluivert’s sixth goal of the season, with Senesi again the provider.

Milos Kerkez for the Cherries and Fernandes for the Red Devils both saw efforts hit the crossbar during a breathless first half.

Fernandes earned the visitors a share of the spoils when he converted a penalty, awarded for handball against Adam Smith midway through the second half.

The Cherries were denied a spot kick of their own in added time when a lengthy VAR check ruled out a penalty after Ryan Christie had been impeded by Willy Kambwala.
