AFC Bournemouth’s six game unbeaten run under interim head coach Gary O’Neil came to an end at Vitality Stadium against Southampton.
Despite plenty of attacking pressure in the second half, the hosts just couldn’t get that crucial goal to take a share of the spoils.
Joe Rothwell and Siriki Dembele both made their Premier League debuts as second-half substitutes, while Junior Stanislas returned to the pitch off the bench as well.
The result means the Cherries sit in 11th place in the Premier League table, while Southampton jump to 14th.
The Cherries will now prepare for a trip to West Ham United on Monday.
