Jermain Defoe is back. Here's a look at his path to the Cherries in 2000 and then back again in 2017.
1 - Defoe was in international shirts long before his league debut, here taking on Brazil at Wembley for England schoolboys.
2 - Goals have always been the striker's trademark, including on his West Ham debut when he scored the only goal in a 1-0 League Cup win over Walsall.
3 - Defoe really introduced himself to football fans with his record-breaking antics during his 2000/01 loan spell at Dean Court, where the teenage striker scored 18 goals in total.
4 - The striker's first spell with the Cherries was capped by a remarkable run of ten goals in ten games, life being a beach for the on-loan man.
5 - The goals continued to flow upon Defoe's return to West Ham, where he top-scored for the Hammers in 2001/02.
6 - Now with the England under-21s, Defoe scored at Filbert Street as the Three Lions saw off Mexico with a 3-0 win.
7 - Following relegation with the Hammers, Defoe signed for Tottenham for the first time in early 2004.
8 - Soon after joining Spurs the striker made his international debut in March 2004, coming off the bench away in Sweden.
9 - Defoe's first five-and-a-half-year spell with Spurs saw him become a favourite with the White Hart Lane fans as he scored 64 goals for the North London club.
10 - In January 2008 the striker joined Portsmouth, scoring 14 league goals but missing the FA Cup win as he was cup tied.
11 - Harry Redknapp lured Defoe back to Spurs a year later, and 79 further goals followed in Defoe's second Tottenham stint.
12 - Defoe netted the crucial goal against Slovenia in the 2010 World Cup that ensured England qualified from their group in South Africa.
13 - In 2014 Defoe swapped North London for North America as he joined MLS side Toronto, scoring 11 goals in 19 games for the Canadian side.
14 - The striker returned to the Premier League with Sunderland in January 2015, keeping the Black Cats in the top flight in his first season on Weirside.
15 - Defoe's 37 goals for Sunderland helped push for an England recall, earned and capped with a goal in the win over Lithuania earlier this year.
