AFC Bournemouth were pegged back and forced to settle for a point after being held to a 1-1 draw by Championship rivals Millwall on Tuesday.

Jason Tindall’s team enjoyed long spells of possession during an often-cagey contest and reached the break leading through Dominic Solanke’s tenth goal of the season.

Solanke finished with aplomb, squeezing a left-foot shot between Millwall goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski and his near post in first-half stoppage-time.

Earlier, the Cherries had gone close to opening the scoring through David Brooks, while Asmir Begovic made a top-drawer save to deny Jed Wallace.

However, the Lions were rewarded for their endeavours when substitute Matt Smith came off the bench to score with his first touch.

Smith, who replaced Alex Pearce in the 78th minute, prodded the ball home from close range after the Cherries had failed to deal with a high free-kick delivered into their 18-yard box.
