AFC Bournemouth hit the front early on when Arnaut Danjuma completed a flowing forward move with a crisp low finish, David Brooks doubling the advantage with a deflected effort from outside the area in the minutes before the break.
Brooks doubled his tally in adding a third just past the restart, Scott Hogan pulling one back soon after, with the visitors able to create further chances before seeing the game out and stretching their extraordinary unbeaten record at St Andrew's.
The Cherries have been unbeaten in 12 visits to City's ground, scoring 26 times in the process.
