AFC Bournemouth shared the points with Championship rivals Preston North End following a 1-1 draw at Deepdale.
The Cherries took the lead through Arnaut Danjuma’s eighth goal of the season which came eight minutes before half-time.
And they were well worth their interval advantage as Preston’s on-loan goalkeeper Daniel Iversen made a string of fine saves to keep them at bay before Danjuma netted.
However, the hosts hit back through Daniel Johnson, the midfielder seizing on a stray pass from Steve Cook before firing past Asmir Begovic 20 minutes from time.
The Cherries slipped to seventh place in the table with Barnsley – the visitors to Vitality Stadium next Saturday – leapfrogging them after chalking up a 1-0 win over Birmingham.
