Five Point Preview: Leicester City

AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth’s game against Leicester City promises to be another entertaining encounter at Vitality Stadium.

But what are we basing that on? Here are five points to look at ahead of the game and what we’ll come up against at the weekend.

GOALS

One thing a game with Leicester this season seems to guarantee is goals.

They’re the joint seventh highest scorers in the league, with nine, but they’ve also conceded 12, the third most.

Only two teams have conceded more, but their threat on the counter attack has been the Foxes’ strength over the last few seasons.

Jamie Vardy in particular will be the main threat, having scored five goals in six games this campaign. His fitness is a huge doubt, but that hasn't affected the Cherries' planning according to the manager.

NDIDI THE DESTROYER

N’Golo Kante was one of the stars of Leicester’s title winning season, but the Foxes may have unearthed another similar gem in the form of 20-year-old Wilfried Ndidi.

Ndidi is the also the only Leicester player to have started every game in both league and cup, and he played 90 minutes in Nigeria’s two World Cup qualifiers earlier this month.

The midfielder has also made more tackles than any other player so far this season in the Premier League, he’s made 25 successful challenges in the top flight.

FOXES ON THE ROAD

Leicester have won one of their last eight away Premier League games, without winning on the road so far this season.

The Foxes haven’t won at Vitality Stadium in the top flight either, but after an encouraging display against Liverpool, where Craig Shakespeare’s side should have taken a point, they will be a dangerous proposition on Saturday.

JOSHUA KING A GOAL THREAT

After scoring his first Premier League goal of the season, King looks more like he’s back to his best.

His strike against Everton, a lovely drilled effort from the edge of the box, was his 14th league goal in his last 22 games.

He’ll be looking to add to that impressive tally against the Foxes, who he is yet to score against in his Cherries career.

UNBEATEN AGAINST THE FOXES IN THE TOP FLIGHT

We’ve played Leicester four times since we’ve been promoted to the Premier League.

On all four occasions, we’ve remained unbeaten – drawing three times and winning once.

That win was in December last year under the lights at Vitality Stadium, when Marc Pugh scored the winner in the 1-0 victory.

The three draws have all had memorable moments, Callum Wilson’s overhead kick, Artur Boruc’s penalty save and Junior Stanislas’ early goal are all flashpoints from our previous encounters.
