Eddie Howe on West Ham comeback

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was glowing about his side’s second-half performance in the 2-1 win over West Ham United.

After Marko Arnautovic’s first-half penalty, the Cherries mounted a comeback when Callum Wilson and Steve Cook scored second-half goals to send the travelling fans into pandemonium.

The manager spoke to the written media on about…

THE FIGHTBACK

I’m very pleased with the second-half performance.

We finished the first-half strongly and created a number of chances which we didn’t take and that left the game in the balance.

West Ham did well in the first half and made it difficult for us, we conceded and it’s a long way back from there, especially with the chances we created before that.

But I’m really pleased with the team, we managed the game very well and it was a great win, we’ve never won here before so it’s a good moment for the club.

CALLUM WILSON’S WONDERGOAL

We scored the goals at good times and Callum’s moment of brilliance swings the game for us, it’s a great finish at the end of a really good run.

I fancied us from that point to try and win the game.

Callum did really well for us, his partnership with Joshua King is developing in a way we wanted it to last season.

Joshua was strong as well but they both set the platform for our performance this afternoon.

DAVID BROOKS

David Brooks looked at home and I’m really pleased with how he has adapted to our demands and the relationship he has with Adam Smith – that bodes well for the future.
