Dominic Solanke to wear number nine

AFC Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke will wear the number nine shirt for the 2019/20 season. Solanke signed permanently for the club in January and wore the number 29 upon his arrival.

But now the frontman has switched to the vacant number nine shirt.

The 21-year-old is delighted to wear the number that many of his childhood idols donned when he was growing up.

"Having been a striker all my life, my favourite number is the number nine," he said.

"Growing up, watching great players like R9 (Ronaldo), Ibrahimovic and Benzema to name a few, you always saw top players in that number so I’m delighted to get it.

"I’m really looking forward to the start of the season, I arrived midway through last season so it’s a fresh start for myself and everyone else in the squad.

"With the new number, hopefully I can score goals and make an impact, we’re looking forward to that first game."

The full AFC Bournemouth squad numbers list is due to be confirmed, but Joshua King has also switched numbers, he'll now wear the number seven shirt.
