Daniels to miss start of next season

AFC Bournemouth defender Charlie Daniels will miss the start of next season after suffering a knee injury.

Daniels, 32, picked up the injury to his left knee in training and is set for an extended spell on the sidelines.

The official diagnosis of the full-back, who has played 24 times this season, is that he subluxed his patella and required surgery to stabilise the patella.

Daniels went under the knife immediately after sustaining the injury last week.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Premier League defeat to Burnley, Cherries boss Eddie Howe said: "Charlie has picked up a really bad looking injury regarding his kneecap.

"He has had an operation and will be out for some time."

Daniels has made 263 appearances in all competitions since joining the Cherries permanently from Leyton Orient in January 2012.
