Daniels – There were a lot of positives

AFC Bournemouth defender Charlie Daniels has given his thoughts on a bittersweet affair with Manchester City this afternoon.

The left-back’s sensational strike gave the Cherries the lead after 13 minutes, but it was Pep Guardiola’s side who came back fighting and scored a 97th minute winner to snatch the three points.

Nevertheless, Daniels believes that the Cherries can be proud of their performance and take confidence from game.

“It’s very gutting but we can take a lot of positives from our performances,” he told afcbTV.

“We were determined, we wanted to fight and we wanted to stay in the game. We did that.

“We can be positive in the next few days but now its gutting and we feel like we’ve had it taken away from us as opposed to them having won it.

“Right now, it’s very difficult. For us to go for an extra five minutes and then play seven is hard to take.

“But we’ll now go to Arsenal with a game plan and try to play the way we want to play and hopefully nullify their threats.”

Daniels also discussed his first-half wonder strike and talked through how it came about.

“I think it’s one of the best I’ve ever scored,” continued the 30-year-old.

“It came out to me and it was bouncing a couple of times so I thought I’d shoot and luckily it came off.

“It’s pleasing in that sense but I’d rather have got the points to kick-start our season.

“On the other hand, there were a lot of positives and we can certainly build on this.”
