AFC Bournemouth defender Steve Cook has given his post-match reaction following the 2-0 defeat to Watford this afternoon.

The Cherries couldn’t find a reply to Richarlison’s opener and Etienne Capoue’s strike from range ahead of the final whistle.

After the game, Cook spoke to the media to reflect on the defeat.

“We were very very poor”, the defender told afcbTV.

“It’s frustrating because we’ve worked extremely hard in training and we look good in training but, come Saturday, we look a different team.

“It’s hard to put your finger on it so we’ve got to buck our ideas up and change the atmosphere to get that first win.

“On a personal note, it’s hard because it’s probably one of my worst performances I’ve had and, from an experienced player like myself, its not acceptable.

“We know that win will come but we may just need a kick up the backside because we don’t want this feeling again.

“We haven’t given the fans anything to cheer about but we need to sort this soon. We’re only two games in but they’re two games we should have picked up points from.”

With Manchester City and Arsenal the next two games in the league, Cook also spoke of how his side mustn’t be fazed going into the fixtures.

“We're the underdogs for the next two games,” he continued.

“We owe the fans and staff a performance so hopefully we can get some points and kickstart our season.

“Today hurts an awful lot but what we can do is pick ourselves up and be positive.”
