Cook - We can't wait for West Brom now

After earning a 2-2 draw with Napoli, defender Steve Cook is looking ahead to getting the Cherries' Premier League campaign started.

Dries Mertens gave the Neopolitans a first-half lead, with strikes from Benik Afobe and Simon Francis looking to have won the hosts the game before Piotr Zielinski's late leveller.

The draw sets Eddie Howe's squad up for their season opener at West Brom next Saturday afternoon.

"In the first half I thought we were very poor on the ball," explained Cook to afcbTV after the game. "We gave them a lot of chances off sloppy play but the character was good to come back and it's a shame we didn't get a win in the end.

"They're a side we think are up there with side like Manchester City, Tottenham and Real Madrid - the top, top sides in Europe - we've come away with a draw and have ended pre-season on a high.

"We defended quite well the whole game and overall it was a positive result, to sum pre-season up we've looked strong and we're all ready to go for next week."

Cook was replaced after 52 minutes as a precaution ahead of the new Premier League season, and feels the Cherries squad is now set for a good start to their league campaign.

"We can't wait now," said Cook. "It's come round quick but now we're ready to go to West Brom and get a positive result.

"We haven't won on the opening day for quite a while now and we're looking to get things right and off to a good start."
