Christie scores in weekend action

A host of Cherries players were in international action over the weekend as Ryan Christie starred for Scotland.

The winger started as they took on Republic of Ireland at Hampden Park, with Mark Travers an unused substitute for the visitors.

John Egan put Ireland ahead early on but an inspired Christie performance in the second half led a deserved comeback.

His quick feet opened up a crossing opportunity, picking out Jack Hendry in the middle for the equalising goal after 49 minutes.

Alan Browne was penalised for handball in the 82nd minute and Christie stepped up and slotted home the resulting penalty, ensuring a big win.

Scotland now need a point from their remaining group game, in which they face Ukraine in Poland, to win Nations League Group B1.

Jefferson Lerma played the full 90 minutes as Colombia secured a comfortable win over Guatemala in an international friendly.

Goals from James Rodriguez, Luis Sinisterra, Rafael Santos Borre and Yaser Asprilla ensured a 4-1 victory at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey.

The appearance marks a 31st international cap for Lerma.

Kieffer Moore was a second half substitute as Wales were defeated by Poland in Cardiff.

Wales needed a win to ensure survival in the Nations League but Karol Swiderski's goal on the hour mark proved costly.

With Chris Mepham missing through suspension, Moore was thrown on in the 58th minute but was unable to build on his goalscoring appearance last time out.

Meanwhile, Philip Billing was an unused substitute as Denmark defeated France at Parken Stadium.

Kasper Dolberg and Andreas Skov Olsen scored first-half goals for the hosts but the win wasn't quite enough to secure a place in next year's Nations League finals.
