Christie, Moore and Mepham all in action

AFC Bournemouth trio Kieffer Moore, Chris Mepham and Ryan Christie were all in international action on Thursday evening.

Christie came on at half-time in Scotland’s emotional World Cup play off with Ukraine at Hampden Park.

The Ukrainians were excellent in Glasgow, with the Cherries midfielder on the end of a 3-1 defeat after replacing Lyndon Dykes at the interval.

Unfortunately for Christie, the result means that the Tartan Army won’t be playing in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

But the Cherries’ Welsh contingent of Moore and Mepham will have been watching closely on as the result means that they will face Ukraine in Cardiff on Sunday, with the winner progressing to this winter’s World Cup.

And Rob Page’s side warmed up for that fixture with a 2-1 UEFA Nations League defeat to Poland.

Mepham played 90 minutes as the Welsh kept Poland superstar Robert Lewandowski quiet in Wroclaw – with the defender impressing as part of a back three.

With one eye on Sunday’s mammoth clash, Moore was substituted at half-time, with Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey and Ben Davies also omitted from the squad.

This was Wales' first game in the top tier of the Nations League after their promotion two years ago, with Netherlands and Belgium the other teams in their group.

But all eyes for Moore and Mepham turn to Cardiff on Sunday which could see Wales qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1958.
