Cherries squad visit Poole hospital

AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

The AFC Bournemouth squad paid their annual visit to Poole Hospital to visit local children over the Christmas period.

14 members of the squad were in attendance, as well as first team coaches Tommy Elphick and Shaun Cooper.

The players went round several children's wards and gave out festive presents to the various age groups, bringing a smile to those who may spend Christmas in hospital.

While on site, afcbTV spoke to Chris Mepham about the value of such visits.

"It's obviously a very special time of year and we need to recognise the role that we have as footballers. We're in a privileged position, so it's really important to give back to the local community, especially at Christmas.

"Seeing the smiles on some of their faces means a lot to us all and the fact that we can do that for them and spread a bit of Christmas cheer is really nice. We've also met a few young Bournemouth fans going round the wards, which is extra special. Hopefully we can give them more to smile about on the pitch over the next week or so."
