Cherries reducing single-use plastic

AFC Bournemouth have teamed up with Green Goblet in an effort to reduce single-use plastics at Vitality Stadium.

Supporters seated in the North Stand for this weekend's match against West Ham United will be the first to trial the new process in which alcoholic beverages will be served in reusable cups, supplied by Green Goblet.

The initiative falls in line with the Premier League’s Pass On Plastic campaign with Sky Ocean Rescue and has been adopted by a number of clubs in the Premier League.

Supporters will be able to purchase their drink from bars three and five and finish it in the concourse. They will then be guided by a member of staff to re-stack the cup into holders that will be located on the concourse walls.

Paul Fudge, head of catering operations at AFC Bournemouth, said: "We are delighted to be working with Green Goblet on this initiative. As a club we are always looking for ways in which we can become more environmentally friendly and reducing plastic wastage is one of them."

"If the trial goes as successfully as we believe it will, we hope to roll out the use of reusable cups stadium-wide in the near future."

Supporters are reminded that these reusable cups should not be thrown in the general waste or taken from the concourse area.
