AFC Bournemouth will undertake a pre-season training camp on Spanish soil as they step up their preparations for the 2019/20 Premier League campaign.

The Cherries will travel to the La Manga Club sport resort, in Murcia, from 10th-17th July, before heading on to Barcelona’s Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, where they will remain until 21st July.

While based in Spain, Eddie Howe’s side will play two friendly fixtures.

The first will take place on Tuesday 16th July at the La Manga Club Football Centre against opponents who are to be confirmed. Kick-off will be 8pm local time (7pm UK time).

Then, on Saturday 20th July, the Cherries will face Segunda Division side Girona at the 60,713-capacity Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, in Barcelona. Kick-off will be 8pm local time (7pm UK time).

Girona, who are managed by Juan Carlos Unzue, were relegated from Spain’s top flight at the end of last season, but reached the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey.

They boast former Stoke defender Marc Muniesa, ex-Middlesbrough forward Cristhian Stuani and one-time Newcastle striker Seydou Doumbia among their ranks.

Details on how to obtain tickets for both fixtures will follow in due course but the club can confirm that admission will be free and on a first come, first served basis.

It will be the third successive year that AFC Bournemouth have headed to Spain for pre-season. The summer of 2017 saw the club based at the Marbella Football Center, before being put through their paces at the La Manga Club Sport Resort in July 2018.

Back on home soil, the Cherries have announced friendly trips to Championship duo West Bromwich Albion and Brentford, and home games against Italian giants Lazio and French side Lyon.
