After signing for AFC Bournemouth, David Brooks spoke on the pull of Eddie Howe and his desire to show the Premier League his talents.
The 20-year-old midfielder arrives at Vitality Stadium from Sheffield United and explained that manager Howe was a key factor in choosing to join the Cherries.
"I want to play games for Bournemouth and he's told me that if I train well and perform right then I'll get the opportunities," said Brooks. "So it's just down to myself now."
Opportunity awaits
Brooks made over 30 appearances in the Championship with the Blades last season, and he spoke about his progression to the first team at Bramall Lane.
"Sheffield United gave me the chance to play and that was the main thing. Going from youth football to men's football is a big step and that's hopefully prepared me well for stepping into the Premier League," he said.
"Every player wants to be the best player they can be and at Sheffield United I had the opportunity to get to terms with what I need to do going forwards with my progression and that's given me a good start."
Blades reunited
In November 2016, Brooks made his FA Cup bow in the same 6-0 Sheffield United win over Leyton Orient that Cherries goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale made his Blades senior debut in, with the new signing saying he'd heard good reviews of AFC Bournemouth from his team-mate.
"I spoke to Rammers about the club and he said there was a great bunch of lads and a great set up down here," said Brooks.
"I didn't speak too much to him but he sold the club very well and there were loads of other factors that made me want to come here.
"I want to continue playing for Wales and being here will give me the best opportunity to get in their starting 11, so it was the best move for myself."
