AFC Bournemouth defender Chris Mepham may have an opportunity to face former club Brentford in a pre-season friendly.

The Cherries will meet the Bees at Griffin Park on Saturday 27th July as the clubs continue their preparations for the start of 2019/20 (3pm kick-off).

Mepham progressed through the ranks at Brentford and made 49 league and cup appearances for the Londoners before moving to Vitality Stadium in January.

Ticket details for the warm-up friendly will be confirmed in due course.

Mepham (pictured above in his Brentford days) played briefly under current Brentford head coach Thomas Frank who has guided them to mid-table in the Championship this season.

The Cherries’ last victory in a competitive game at Griffin Park came in October 2005 when goals from James Hayter and James Keene earned them a 2-0 win in League One.

And the Bees were one of only six teams to beat the Cherries during their Championship-winning campaign of 2014/15 when Eddie Howe’s men clinched promotion to the Premier League.
