Brady signs for the Cherries

AFC Bournemouth have completed the signing of Republic of Ireland international Robbie Brady.

The 29-year-old arrives at Vitality Stadium as a free agent and has joined up with his Cherries team-mates ahead of the game against Stoke City.

The versatile Irishman has a wealth of experience, making 160 Premier League appearances and earning 57 caps for his country.

Brady began his career in Ireland before moving to Manchester United’s academy. From there, he impressed in the Premier League during stints with Hull City, Norwich and Burnley.

During that time, he also starred for Republic of Ireland at Euro 2016, scoring a memorable winner against Italy in the group stage as The Boys in Green reached the last 16 of the competition.

Brady joins Scott Parker’s squad initially until the end of the season but the club has the option of extending his stay on the south coast.

Chief executive Neill Blake said of the transfer: “To be able to sign a player of Robbie’s experience and calibre on a free transfer is a coup for the football club.

“Robbie has huge quality and versatility to add another important option to Scott Parker and his coaching staff.

“Proven at the top level, Robbie knows what it takes to be a Premier League player and we’re delighted he has chosen to join us at Vitality Stadium.”
