Billing nets Sky Bet award

Philip Billing's flying goal against Swansea City has picked up another award after being voted Sky Bet Championship goal of the month for March.

The Dane's acrobatic effort was the first goal of the Cherries' ongoing seven-match winning run, coming from an Arnaut Danjuma cross.

Coming up against strikes from Preston's Ched Evans and Rotherham's Freddie Ladapo, Billing's brilliance won the public vote of the Sky Bet Championship's Twitter feed.

Reacting to the recognition, Billing said: “I’m delighted to win this award and would like to thank everyone who voted for me.

“I’ve been working hard in training on making sure I get into the box more. We had also talked before that game about getting crosses in, so when I saw Arnie with the ball I knew what he was going to do.

“It was just a reaction to the ball in. I had some space around me, I just tried to connect and make sure it went on target.

“Some people would have headed it but I prefer to score with my feet.

“I’ve scored a few good goals before but it’s probably the best goal of my career so far, for sure.”

Carrying his goalscoring form forwards, the midfielder has scored four further goals in the six games since his Swans stunner.
