Written by Matt Joyce

Benik Afobe made his DR Congo debut and capped his first appearance with a goal for his country.

Afobe, 24, played 90 minutes as the Leopards beat Botswana 2-0.

The striker, who came off the bench in the final game of the season against Leicester City following an injury, returned to start with a goal in the second-half to help his country secure the victory.

Afobe officially declared his intentions to play for the African nation in 2016.

The DR Congo squad has a number of other English-based players, including Everton's Yannick Bolasie and Youssouf Mulumbu of Norwich.
