Artur Boruc - It means a lot to win an award

Written by Iain Pearce

AFC Bournemouth number one Artur Boruc shared his gratitude with the supporters after being presented with his award ahead of Saturday's match with Burnley.

The Polish 'keeper then helped his side earn a 2-1 win over the Clarets to push into the top half of the Premier League table with one game left to play.

Before kick off Boruc was presented with the Supporters' Player of the Year award on the pitch, a prize voted for online.

"It means a lot," Boruc told afcb.co.uk of his award. "I need to say thank you to all the supporters who gave their votes to me and the Polish community all around Bournemouth, I'm really pleased to get the award.

"I don't have any particular plans for the summer now, I just want to stay fit and see what that will bring to me."

The win took the Cherries past their debut Premier League season total and guaranteed a best-ever finish for the club.

"Everyone was pleased with the the three points and I'm really happy that we ended with a win," said Boruc, whose side pushed for an easier win before relying on Joshua King's late strike to take the points.

"On the pitch you don't really have too much time to think, which is probably good, and in the end we won the game so we're all happy with that."
