Anthony pens new Cherries deal

Jaidon Anthony has extended his time with AFC Bournemouth by signing a new contract with the club.

The forward, who joined the club's academy in the summer of 2016, has forced his way into the first-team picture in 2020/21, making his first-team debut earlier this month.

His first appearance came on the forward's 21st birthday, when Anthony was brought on with 20 minutes left of the Cherries' match with Preston North End.

Displaying his pace and dribbling ability, Anthony created a goal for Sam Surridge as Bournemouth came close to a comeback against the Lilliwhites.

The academy graduate then appeared again three days later, earning minutes in the impressive 4-0 win away at Barnsley.

The Londoner, who spent a decade with Arsenal before linking up with the Cherries, was a mainstay of the under-21 and under-18 squads prior to this campaign, and scored for the first team in the pre-season win at West Ham in September.

Anthony spent the second half of last season with Weymouth, helping the Terras back to the National League during his loan spell.

He netted from open play in the side's play-off semi-final win over Dorking Wanderers and then scored with a penalty in the shootout victory against Dartford that clinched promotion.
