Nathan Ake has won the fan vote in our Michael Matthews Player of the Month award, winning the prize for his performances in May.

AFC Bournemouth only had two games in May, finishing the season with a home win against Tottenham Hotspur and an away trip to Crystal Palace, with the voting incredibly tight between the top three players in our Twitter poll as the fans picked their winner.

Mark Travers was a Premier League debutant in the Spurs game, while Jefferson Lerma won the Goal of the Season award for his thunderbolt at Selhurst Park - and the pair both garnered 32% of your votes.

However, just a percentage point ahead of them was Nathan Ake on 33%, the Dutch defender no doubt earning your votes for his dramatic late header to secure our first ever league win over Spurs two weeks ago.

The strike was Ake's fourth goal of the season and led to wild Vitality Stadium celebrations and was his second monthly award in 2018/19 following on from his win in February.
